WBC junior welterweight champion Erik Morales (52-7, 36KOs) doesn't expect Juan Manuel Marquez (53-6-1, 39KOs) to offer him a big-fight opportunity for July 14th at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Marquez was going to fight Lamont Peterson, who instead accepted a rematch offer against Amir Khan for May 19th in Las Vegas.

With Peterson being unavailable, rumors have been circulating in Mexico that Marquez would possibly try to secure Morales - should he defeat unbeaten Danny Garcia next month in Houston.

Morales feels Marquez is still holding a grudge against him, which stems from their time together as stablemates under the Top Rank banner. Marquez claims that he always asked Top Rank to face Morales, but the Tijuana veteran would always turn him down because he felt Marquez wasn't a big enough name at that moment in time.

"I'm positive that neither [Marquez's promoter] Fernando Beltran or Marquez will make a fight with me, because they continue to hold grudges and they have a deep [dislike] in their hearts against me," Morales said.
