Earlier this week, former four division champion Erik Morales arrived in Los Angeles for a scheduled meeting with Golden Boy Promotions.

Morales (52-8, 36KOs), 38-years-old, is eager to continue his career in the wake of a decision loss to Danny Garcia in March. Golden Boy presented several possibilites - and "El Terrible" indicated his desire to face Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez on July 14th at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

As a result, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has continued his discussions with Top Rank President Todd duBoef, who co-promotes Marquez (54-6, 39KOs) with Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions.

“That’s the fight he wants. I said [to Morales] that I would be discussing it with Todd. I’m negotiating with Todd. We’re working on it," Schaefer said.

Marquez is considering the possibility of facing Morales, along with unbeaten lightweight contender Mercito Gesta. Marquez is expected to announce his opponent very soon.

"I’m basically waiting to hear back from Todd. We’ll see, so hopefully we’ll have some news tomorrow, possibly," Schaefer said.
