Eric Morel, the former 112-pound king of the WBA, is livid over the recent announcement by WBA bantamweight champion Anselmo 'Chemito' Moreno of Panama. Morel believed that he was being lined up to face Moreno in November, and he was shocked to learn that Moreno was now defending his title against IBO champ Vic Darchinyan on December 3, with Showtime televising the contest.

"Chemito is fully aware that Eric wanted that fight. We wanted that fight with or without the title being at stake, but now Moreno says that he'll be fighting Darchinyan on December 3. Now he can join the likes of Fernando Montiel, Jorge 'Travieso' Arce and Nonito Donaire, fighters who avoided meetings with Eric. We are training for any of the champions between 118 and 122-pounds. But I guess we'll have to move up several divisions to junior welterweight or junior middleweight to get a title shot, maybe [Miguel] Cotto, [Antonio] Margarito and [Manny] Pacquiao," said in a laughing manner, father and trainer Cyril Morel.
