Eric Morel, a former two-time world champion, is fully prepared for his next ring appearance, taking place on April 21 in El Paso, Texas. Morel takes on undefeated Abner Mares for the vacant WBC super bantamweight title. The Puerto Rican boxer closed his hard training with 80 rounds of sparring of completed, according to his father and trainer, Cyril Morel.

"We're done with that part. There are 80 rounds completed and that's fine. We are quite confident. The hard training is over. It was enough [hard training] and from this point on we're focused on making the weight," Cyril said.

Morel (46-2, 23 KO's) currently weighs about 126 pounds, which is four pounds above the super bantamweight limit of 122 and there is plenty of time to make weight.

"We leave on Tuesday [for Texas]. Eric feels good and this will be a great fight. But that title is going to Puerto Rico. We are going to fight according to plan and not come in there looking for a knockout. Eric is going to be very careful because this is the fight of his life," Cyril said.
