The Dominican Republic native, Elio "The Kid" Rojas (23-1-0 14 KOs), has already arrived to the Mexican city of Cancun and the boxer is staying at the Hotel Grand Oasis. This coming Saturday, Rojas challenges Jhonny Gonzalez for the featherweight championship of the World Boxing Council (WBC). Rojas arrived with his coaches James "Buddy" McGirt and Terrence Blackmoore.

"I am extremely happy to return to Mexico. I had fought here several times in the past and I'm familiar with these people. The last time I went to the city of Merida, near here and I feel almost at home," Rojas said.

"I'm very well prepared, physically and mentally, for the fight against Jhonny Gonzalez. Mexican fighters are characterized as being strong and brave, but I've come well prepared and I'm sure that I'll leave here with a win. I know Johnny, he's a fighter with vast experience. I know Jhonny has fought in different weight divisions. Gonzalez is known for having a strong punch and he's a born puncher. My strategy will be to use my speed and counter-attack him."
