San Juan, Puerto Rico - In the Dominican Republic, the undefeated fighter from Cupey Alto, and sponsored by Felix" Tito "Trinidad, Eliezer "Waa" Gonzalez (12-0, 7KO's) continued steadily on his way to stardom at 154 pounds, by knocking out Rafael Romero at 2:14 of the second round.

His compatriot at 135 pounds, Fernando Torres, did not achieve the same fate. He lost a split decision in four rounds against Ramon Guevara and saw his record fall to (17-2, 10KO's).

"I feel faster and stronger than ever. I placed my shots well and won. I worked hard in the gym and thankfully the results were there," said González, boxer under Universal Promotions.

Gonzalez will next see action in July 2011 on a card being put together by Universal Promotions in the town of Caguas. The exact date will be provided soon.

For his part, Torres said, "I made the best effort but I couldn't win. I promise you, the people of Puerto Rico, to come back stronger than ever and I will succeed in getting back on track."
