British contender Sam Eggington (19-3, 11 KOs) is very eager to get a stoppage win over former two division world champion Paulie Malignaggi.

The two boxers will collide on Saturday night, as part of the David Haye vs. Tony Bellew undercard from the O2 Arena in London.

Eggington is coming off his career best win from last October, when he secured a stoppage victory over former amateur standout Frankie Gavin.

Malignaggi (36-7, 7 KOs) has won his last three fights since suffering back to back stoppage defeats to Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. Both of those fighters are at the top of the welterweight division, while Eggington is still widely viewed as a domestic fighter from the UK.

Eggington realizes that only elite fighters or world champion boxers have beaten Malignaggi, which is why he wants to add the Brooklyn fighter's name to his resume.

"Everything has gone well and I'm just ready to go," Eggington told Sky Sports. "We were expecting a big fight, there was a few names in the hat, so it wasn't so much of a shock.

"But I'm just happy that it was Paulie Malignaggi, because there was a few at different weights, a weight above. I was happy we were staying at welterweight and Paulie is a big name, what he's done. Everyone that has boxed him and beat him has gone onto to big things. You only have to see the names that have beaten him. If you could add my name to that, I would be over the moon. If I could stop Paulie Malignaggi, that would be brilliant."

Beyond Malignaggi, Eggington is in line for a shot at the European world title and wants to secure that opportunity by the end of the year.

"I'm mandatory for the European title at the moment," said Eggington. "Anything could come off, beating Malignaggi, but the European title is something that I would love to have in the cabinet at home. If they could make that at any point this year, then I would definitely be looking for that."
