There's a great battle looming during the card “Por las Mujeres de México en la México", promoted by Canelo Promotions, on June 29th in Mexico City. WBC super featherweight silver champion Edgar Puerta (21-4, 19KOs) will put his title on the line against Edgar "Basuras" Riovalle (35-14, 29KOs). Puerta-Riovalle will be the co main event of the card, where Mexican Ibeth “Roca” Zamora will defend her WBC light flyweight title. Puerta, who's #4 in the WBC rankings, is training in Tijuana under the supervision of Rómulo Quirarte.

About his fight against Riovalle, Puerta said he respects him but he doesn’t feel threatened by him.

“I know he has a very strong punch and a lot of experience, but the truth is that the sparring partners I’m in the ring with here in Tijuana are more dangerous than him,” he said.

Puerta is sparring with former champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto and Jorge “Che Che” López.
