Super middleweight prospect Edgar “The Chosen One” Berlanga is technically on vacation in Puerto Rico, but that hasn't stopped the boxer from training very hard during his stay.

Berlanga is scheduled to return on December 12, at the MGM Grand's Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The feared puncher took advantage of the local scene on Friday to go to the Félix Pagán Pintor gym in Guaynabo for a complete training session.

“I'm working hard for the fight on December 12. We are on vacation, but at the same time we are not. I'm enjoying the days, but I'm also still working. I love my island and I want people to understand that even though they say I'm from New York, I continue to work for the island," shared Berlango to Carlos Gonzalez.

“I recognize that the island is thirsty for someone to represent the flag in the same manner as Felix Trinidad, Miguel Cotto and many others. I hope to be in that league and I'll do my best to do it too. I want to be a champion several times over. I'm here to stay and put Puerto Rico on the map again."

Berlanga has been getting a lot of press as of late, thanks to winning his first 15 fights by knockout - all in the first round.

Former two division world champion and Puerto Rican boxing great, Ivan Calderón, was very impressed after watching Berlanga train.

“He has a natural punch. That is not something that was learned. Edgar is not only a puncher by nature, it's also how he adjusts to take shots. He keeps his hands up because it seems like it is his habit. It is evident that he is disciplined and is working to improve his boxing technique,” explained Calderón.
