Paul Economides has had his next fight confirmed.

The 30-year-old super-bantamweight (20-6, 4 KOs) will be back in action next month.

Economides, who is based in Connah’s Quay but was born in Chester, lost his last fight to Sean Davis in Birmingham for the vacant WBC International Silver title.

But he will box on another Sky Sports-televised card on April 22 at Liverpool’s ECHO Arena.

The next action for ‘The Spartan’ will come on the undercard of Martin Murray’s mouth-watering middleweight match-up against Gabriel Rosado.

It was confirmed by the man himself on social media and he is part of a card which features three other title fights and plenty of upcoming local talent.

Rocky Fielding and John Ryder will vie for the vacant British super-middleweight title which was recently relinquished by Callum Smith, while Tom Farrell makes the first defence of his WBA International super-lightweight title won back in October when he steps in against former sparring partner Tommy Carus.

Elsewhere on the bill, there will be action for Craig Glover, the undefeated cruiserweight who will see action on Saturday at London’s O2 Arena on the undercard of David Haye’s heavyweight grudge match against Tony Bellew, and Sean Dodd will defend his WBC International lightweight title.

Further additions to the card will be revealed in due course.

In other news, Stephen Simmons has been ruled out of his British title challenge.

The Edinburgh cruiserweight stepped in for Matty Askin, who suffered an injury, and was set to come up against Craig Kennedy for the vacant belt on March 11 at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, exclusively live on Channel 5.

But ‘The Monster’ Simmons has now himself been forced out of the fight due to “circumstances beyond my control”.

Boxing Scene was informed of the news on Wednesday morning and Simmons confirmed the details via social media.

More information regarding Kennedy’s next opponent will be announced soon.
