Diego Torres was denied a knockdown but would not stop until he secured a knockout.

It came early in the fourth round of his junior welterweight clash with Hector Osorio as part of a DAZN show evening at Arena Astros in Guadalajara, Mexico. Torres was unlucky to be credited with a third-round knockdown, but flattened Osorio moments later to produce an immediate stoppage at 0:19 of round four.

Torres made his presence mere seconds into their contest. The significantly heavier-handed Torres connected with several left hooks in the opening round, while also finding a home for his overhand right. To his credit, Osorio—who boasts just one career knockout—didn’t shy away from the challenge, standing his ground as he adjusted on the fly.

Osorio employed a more defensively responsible approach in round two. The 26-year-old from Tlaxcala, Mexico bobbed and weaved on the inside, causing Torres to miss with his right hand but still struggled to neutralize Torres’ left hook.

The aggressive approach by Torres was exploited at times by Osorio in round three. The longer and leaner Osorio jabbed and hooked to the body, though his success was short-lived. Torres closed the gap late in round three, rocking Osorio with a left hook and sending him to the canvas moments later. As he did in the first fight, referee Javier Pena appeared to miss a knockdown call as he ruled a slip and signaled for the action to continue after wiping Osorio’s gloves.

Torres didn’t let the sequence bother him, connecting with a brutal left hook at the start of round four. Osorio was frozen in his tracks and unable to defend against an ensuing right hand that forced his legs to buckle as he melted to the canvas. Pena jumped in to halt the contest without issuing a count.

The win is the third of a productive 2022 campaign for Torres, who improves to 16-0 (15KOs). He began the year with his first fight to go the distance, coming on the February 19 undercard of Tijuana’s Jaime Munguia, who faces Argentina’s Gonzalo Gaston Coria (21-5, 8KOs) in a scheduled ten-round middleweight bout atop Saturday’s show.
