Undefeated Diego "La Joya" Chaves, the interim welterweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), is very confident as the days get closer to his fight with Keith "One Time" Thurman on Saturday July 27th at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The fight will be televised live on Showtime for the U.S. and TYC Sports for Argentina and much of Latin America. Chaves (22-0, 18 KOs) has no intention of letting his unbeaten run stop, and he feels a knockout of Thurman (20-0, 18 KOs) is very possible.

"It's going to end in the tenth, he's going to fall," Chaves told BoxingScene.com/NotiFight.com. "We know we have a tough fight, but nothing that's impossible. We saw the last five fights of Thurman. He has power. But he has that power for a pace for three or four rounds. The key will be boxing, hitting and not letting him land anything big during those first four rounds, and then we'll start working more because his speed and power decreases as the fight plays out. The idea is to win the first three or four rounds, and then apply more pressure starting in the fifth when his power starts to go down."

"Thurman is not accustomed to fighting while going backwards or getting hit. And I'll be the first opponent in his twenty to hit him. After the first four initial rounds, I repeat we are going to apply more pressure and hit him more. When I let my hands go, I will hurt him. And I have great faith and confidence that I will get the knockout in the tenth."
