IBF featherweight champion Billy Dib (33-1, 20 KO’s) aims to put on a show in his second defence of the title next month against Mexico’s Latino belt holder Eduardo Escobedo (32-3, 23 KO’s) in Tasmania.

The 26 year-old, who picked up the red belt last July, made an impressive first defence in November when stopping Alberto Servidei in the first round at the Homebush Sports Centre in Sydney.

‘The Kid’ now faces his mandatory challenger and believes the crowd at the Derwent Entertainment Centre on March 7th are in for an action-packed fight and an explosive performance from the Aussie.

“Escobedo is a hell of a fighter with a lot of will and skill,” Dib told World Boxing News.

“It’s going to be a fan-friendly fight full of thrills. All I wanna say is come March 7th don't blink, because somebody is getting knocked out and it aint gonna be me!”

Dib has been linked with a huge unification bout with WBA champion Chris John on numerous occasions in the past and told WBN that he has no plans to move up to super-featherweight just yet, meaning the fight remains a possibility.

“My plans in the future all rest on the result of this fight,” Dib explained.

“I know deep in my heart that this will be a great fight - with me being victorious. I have no plans on moving up after my fight with Escobedo and I have great people behind me who are making those decisions and will do so when the time is right,” he added.

Escobedo, 28, is undefeated since his one and only previous attempt at a world title against compatriot Daniel Ponce De Leon in 2007 for the WBO super-bantamweight belt and has campaigned at the 126lb limit ever since.

Co-featuring on the night is IBF middleweight champion and fellow-Aussie Daniel Geale, who also makes the second defence of his title against Ghanaian Osumanu Adama and Kali Meehan provides chief support in a heavyweight battle with American Travis Walker.
