Town Hall, Walsall, West Midlands - In an IBF final lightweight title eliminator, Martin Gethin (24-4-1, 11KOs) did his best but he was overpowered and stopped by Ammeth Diaz (32-11, 23KOs) in the seventh round. Diaz is now guaranteed a mandatory shot at the champion Miguel Vazquez of Mexico. It was a give and take fight for the first five rounds, but then Diaz changed everything when a hard combination sent Gethin down in the sixth. During the seventh round action, Diaz dropped Gethin again with a hard right hand counter. Gethin fought back hard, but went down for a third time from a shot to the body, and this time he stayed down for the full count.
