Aarhus, Denmark - Super Brian and Mogens Palle Promotion staged their second edition of Danish Fight Night at the Ceres Park with all fights televised by TV 2 Sport.

Former super lightweight champ DeMarcus "Chop-Chop" Corley (43-26-1) showed there is still life as he took apart Danish knockout king Osama Hadifi (11-1, 11KO) and stopped him at 2.40 of the sixth of a scheduled eight rounder. Hadifi was just too green for an experienced veteran like Corley. and could never solve his opponent´s slick southpaw style.

Hadifi can punch though and had his moments and looked robbed of a knockdown in the third. But Corley´s southpaw left to the body hurt Hadifi early in the sixth and he never recovered and took a standing eight count before going down hurt and out of it. After five it was scored 48-47 twice and 49-47 - all for Corley.

Cruiserweight Jeppe Morell made his prodebut and had tough opponent in American Jimmy Owensby (4-4) but on scores of 60-54 on all cards after six two minute rounds. Morell, a southpaw was out fast but Owensboro showed he could take a good punch and kept trying throughout which made for a good fight.

During the evening came the sad news that Finnish great Pekka Kokkonen had passed away at a hospital in Helsinki at the age of 82. Kokkonen never won a title in his ten years as a pro but still had a great career where he fought the likes of Harold Johnson, Piero del Papa, Yvan Prebeg and Eddie Cotton. He was also sparring partner for Ingemar Johansson in the training for his third fight against Floyd Patterson. All in all he went 37-16-4. After his career he remained in boxing and was for many years chairman in the Finnish federation.

Lolenga Mock (33-14-1), billled as the best super middleweight in Denmark, knocked out Portugese Jorge Silva (15-5) at of the seventh of a scheduled ten-rounder after tough physical fight. Silva had speed and slick moves against the stronger but slower Mock. Mock kept coming though and wore down his opponent and after an absorbing sixth that was fought at close range Silva was ready to go. He was stunned by a left hook and then a right made him stumble backwards and to the floor where the referee stopped counting and stopped it. It was ruled as KO win for Mock at 2.59.

Danish-based American cruiserweight Nick Evans turned pro against Belgian veteran Ismail Abdoul (58-36-3) and drew over six. The veteran was hurt by the two-minute rounds and never got untracked while Evans, who claims a 113-5 amateur record from the States, failed to get any power behind his punches. It was very even and it was scored 58-56 both ways and 57-57. Evans came in as a sub for Pierre Madsen, whom he had sparred with.

Lightheavy Jonas Madsen (2-0) outscored Georgian Davit Rivakoni (10-11-) over six interesting rounds. Madsen, with only eight amateur fights behind him, is green but promising and worked hard while Rivakoni covered up and scored with a dangerous right hook. Overall Madsen´s workrate won it for him and it was scored 59-55, 60-54 and 58-56.

Cruiserweight Kim Thomsen (4-0) outscored Hungarian Attila Gyen (2-5-0) over six and it was scored 60-54 on all cards. Gyen was wild in his style and Thomsen had problems finding the range for his powerful right and could never hurt his opponent.

Middleweight Mohammed Adel made an impressive pro debut and stopped outclassed Georgian Valeri Karelidze 1.48 into the third. Karelidze was floored earlier in the rounds and took a beating when it was stopped. Karelidze didn´t land a punch during the fight - his record is given by boxrec as 7-3, which makes you wonder about the standard in Georgian boxing but Adel still looked good and was both Nordic and Danish champ in the amateurs.
