Unified middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly was hospitalized for dehydration Thursday night, forcing the postponement of his Saturday night title defense in Las Vegas.

Promoter Top Rank announced the card will proceed with the lightweight bout between unbeaten Raymond Muratalla and former junior lightweight titleholder Tevin Farmer serving as the main event.

Kazakhstan’s Alimkhanuly (15-0, 10 KOs) was due to defend his IBF and WBO belts against New Zealand’s Andrei Mikhailovich (21-0, 13 KOs). Promoter Bob Arum said he anticipated pitting a victorious Alimkhanuly versus new WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames, but now those plans are on hold.

BoxingScene will have more information as details emerge.
