On Friday night, junior middleweight Deandre Latimore (23-3, 17KOs) was able to survive two late knockdowns in his unanimous decision victory over last minute replacement Milton Nuñez.  The Colombian was a late sub for Ryan Davis who failed his prefight eye exam.

Latimore cruised through the first 8 rounds before getting caught and dropped in the 9th round.  Although he was on wobbly legs we able to survive the round. He went down again in the 10th round but replays showed that it was a head butt and not a punch sent Latimore to the canvas.

"He got me with a good shot (in the 9th). I'm not going to lie. He was a big guy and he got me," Latimore explained. "I had my legs back in the 10th. That was a head butt that he hit me with in the 10th.  That wasn't a punch," he continued.

Latimore had been out of the ring for nearly a year and this was his first fight under the Mayweather Promotions banner. Latimore said that he received a call from Mayweather shortly after the fight in which the undefeated WBC welterweight champion praised him for his performance.

"Floyd call me and said that I fought a great fight. He said not to worry about it (the knockdowns) since I had been out of the ring for so long," Latimore told BoxingScene.com.

Shortly after this interview was conducted BoxingScene was advised that Latimore's next fight may take place on on the eve of the Floyd Mayweather-Miguel Cotto showdown in Las Vegas. While it is far from finalized, Latimore would headline the May 4th fight card if it were to take place. The potential Las Vegas venue and television networks are still being determined.
