Popular Polish light heavyweight contender Dawid Kostecki is caught in the whirlwind of a doping scandal, after several outlets in Poland have reported that he tested positive for anabolic steroids in the aftermath of last November's ring return against Andrzej Soldra. The fight took place on the Adamek-Szpilka undercard.

He was making his return after being away from the ring for well over two years. The boxer spent some time in prison after being convicted of several criminal acts a few years earlier.

The fight was close, but Soldra walked away with a close unanimous decision and many felt it could have gone either way

Kostecki (39-2, 25 KOs) was scheduled to headline a card on April 10 in Rzeszow, but that card is now canceled.

The promoters of the card have not heard from the fighter in several weeks

"I am shocked," said the head of KnockOut Promotions, Andrzej Wasilewski, to Przeglad Sportowy.

"If Dawid decides to test the B sample and the result is confirmed, we can not imagine any further cooperation. It's too bad, because for many years we helped him in his life and we have always been with him. A salary was paid to him throughout his stay in prison, and so now it all ends."
