Brooklyn, New York - Danny Garcia (30-0, 17 KO’s) expects big numbers for his fight with Paulie Malignaggi (33-6, 7 KO’s) this weekend at the Barclays Center, both live attendance and television viewers. This will be the second installment of PBC on ESPN. The first installment featured Keith Thurman defeating Luis Collazo. That bout peaked at 1.2 million viewers according to Nielsen Research. Garcia feels his fight with Malignaggi will top that number.

“I believe I’ll break the 1.2 million number,” Garcia told BoxingScene.com. “When I fought Herrera on Showtime, it was like the highest rated show on Showtime. When I fought Rod Salka we did 850k views and that was just off my name. The last fight we had 3.4 million on NBC, I expect numbers on Saturday.”

Garcia took heat for fighting an overmatched Rod Salka last year. But to the fighter, he doesn’t regret the pat his career has taken.

“I don’t regret fighting Rod Salka because I have been fighting every tough fighter,” explained the Philly fighter. “You can’t fight a Lucas Matthysse ten times in a row; you’d have a short career. You do want to make great fights but it’s about timing, and after Saturday night, we'll get back on the path to great fights.”

After Garcia defeated Lucas Matthysse, many felt he had deserved a Floyd Mayweather fight. But Garcia’s team’s intent was to stay the champion at 140. Now that he has made the move to 147, could a possible Mayweather fight be down the line?

“Anything’s possible in boxing. I’m a young champion and it’d be a dream to fight Mayweather because a lot comes with it, exposure and money. But at the end of the day it’s up to Mayweather. He calls all the shots. Whoever he wants to fight is who’s going to fight him.”
