Viktor Postol is the mandatory challenger to Danny Garcia, but that doesn’t mean that the undefeated contender from Ukraine was on the radar of the 140-pound champion.

“No disrespect but I didn't even know who postol was till about a week ago,” Garcia tweeted on Sunday. “He doesn't even have any notable wins.”

Postol fought on HBO in May on the undercard of Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Mike Alvarado, boxing expertly against Aydin before scoring a beautiful one-punch uppercut knockout in the 11th round. That win made him mandatory challenger to one of Garcia’s two sanctioning body belts.

It was announced last week that Postol was paid to step aside for a fight so that Garcia can take another bout without losing his World Boxing Council title. Postol would remain in mandatory position, but there’s no guarantee that he’d get Garcia, who could ultimately choose to drop the belt and face yet another opponent.

This situation led to more criticism in Garcia’s direction, adding onto a year that saw him have difficulty against Mauricio Herrera in March in a majority decision victory and then headline a Showtime main event in an utter mismatch against Rod Salka in August.

Another person on Twitter challenged Garcia: “last 8 fights. Only ‘notable’ wins u have are [Lucas] Mathysse & [Amir] khan. That's cuz khan sucks. Ur not that good.”

Garcia responded: “name 2 fighter my age that have defended their titles against 2 prime fighters in their weight class? I'll wait.”

Garcia then sent this tweet out on Monday:

“I fight whoever they put in front of me. I don't pick them I just knock them down.”
