Daniel Jacobs’ weigh-in Thursday was a little less predictable and a lot less lucrative than the last time he had to step on the scale the day before a fight.

Brooklyn’s Jacobs and Philadelphia’s Gabe Rosado met their contractual obligations without incident Thursday for their 12-round super middleweight match Friday night in Hollywood, Florida. Jacobs stepped on the Florida State Boxing Commission’s scale at 167.6 pounds, slightly lighter than Rosado, who officially weighed exactly 168 pounds.

Jacobs, 33, is a 25-1 favorite to beat Rosado, 34, in what’s being billed as a grudge match. DAZN will stream Jacobs-Rosado as the main event of a five-fight show from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Their weigh-in was significantly different than when Jacobs got on the Arizona Boxing & MMA Commission’s scale for his previous fight. Notoriously unprofessional Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. weighed in an absurd 4¾ pounds over their contracted limit of 168 pounds for a fight scheduled for 12 rounds last December 20 at Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix.

Jacobs (36-3, 30 KOs) earned an additional $1 million to go through with their bout because Mexico’s Chavez was so overweight. Jacobs weighed in at 167¾ pounds, five full pounds less than Chavez.

In his first fight after moving up from middleweight, Jacobs beat Chavez by technical knockout.

Chavez (51-5-1, 33 KOs, 1 NC) declined to continue following the fifth round. The enigmatic Chavez had some success, but he quit on his stool before the sixth round began.

Rosado (25-12-1, 14 KOs, 1 NC) out-boxed Mexican veteran Humberto Gutierrez Ochoa (33-9-2, 22 KOs) in the 10-round, walk-out bout the night Jacobs beat Chavez. Talking Stick Arena, home of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, was essentially empty when Rosado out-boxed Ochoa on his way to winning a unanimous decision.

Like Jacobs, Rosado hasn’t boxed since last December 20.
