Having lost his boxing stronghold in a troubled city of Donetsk in Eastern Ukraine, Yuri Ruban of Union Boxing Promotion made Ukrainian capital Kiev his second home. Tonight, his company staged another show which featured the best of Ruban's lesser weight power as three fighters put their WBA minor titles at risk.

Gunning for his first (and, almost surely, only) shot at a world title, Ukrainian veteran Oleg Yefimovich rallied in the midst of his twelve-rounder versus Belgian featherweight champion Urbano Giuliani to produce the seventh-round stoppage in the fourth defense of his WBA Continental 126lb title. Yefimovich, who is already 36, was on a short track to a championship fight in 2009-2010 before running into unheralded Sofiane Takoucht and losing his European belt in its fifth defense in August 2010. He is 11-0-1 since, and his present record reads 29-2-1, 16 KOs. Yefimovich is rated #6 by the WBA and #12 by the IBF. Giuliani gets down to 9-2, 2 KOs.

WBA #10 super bantamweight Olexander Yegorov (18-1, 9 KOs) made the third defense of his WBA Continental 122lb title with a solid third-round kayo over Argentinean traveller Lucas Rafael Baez (30-16-4, 15 KOs). Yegorov, 28, scored his fifth straight win followin a lone loss of his professional career - a unanimous decision defeat from Gavin McDonnell for a vacant European crown.

Flyweight Artem Dalakian (15-0, 11 KOs) made another tiny step towards a world title shot with a one-sided domination over Mexican import Luis Manuel Macias (9-5-2, 3 KOs), who was knocked out in round six. WBA #3 Dalakian made the fourth defense of his WBA Continental 112lb title. WBA champion is Kazuto Ioka with two Thai fighters, occupying top spots at the divisional chart: Tepparith Singwancha is rated WBA #1, and Noknoi Sitthipraset is ranked #2 by the very same sanctioning body.
