Isaac Lowe will not defend a title this weekend.

The featherweight, from Morecambe, was set to make the first defence of his Commonwealth crown, live on Sky Sports.

Lowe, 22, will feature on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s world lightweight title showdown against Jorge Linares at the Manchester Arena.

But the ‘Westgate Warrior’ (12-0-1, 5 KOs) will no longer have a belt on the line when he boxes after Boxing Scene had it confirmed by Matchroom Sport, who are the promotional company of the show, that Tshifiwa Munyai had withdrawn from the fight.

‘The Atomic Spider’, who is a former world title challenger at super bantamweight and has a ring record of 27-4-1 with 15 early, was last in action in September, 2015.

This is the second occasion on which this particular fight has fallen apart, having originally been set to take place on May 7 at the same venue, as part of the undercard to the aforementioned Crolla’s scintillating seventh-round stoppage victory over Ismael Barroso.

No reason for the withdrawal was provided.

Boxing Scene understands that Lowe will remain on the bill on Saturday (September 24), but will no longer be in a TV slot and will now box over eight rounds.
