Hosea Burton will fight Mexican opposition next week.

The British light-heavyweight champion is set to return to the ring on September 24, exclusively live on Sky Sports.

Burton (17-0, 8 KOs) was originally scheduled to make a defence of his domestic crown against former super-middleweight world title challenger Frank Buglioni, at the Manchester Arena, as part of the undercard to Anthony Crolla’s lightweight world title showdown against Jorge Linares.

But that fight, which was expected to be one of the highlights of the bill, was scrapped after ‘Wise Guy’ Buglioni suffered a cut to the left eye in sparring, forcing him out of the fight.

It was believed at first that Burton would still defend the Lonsdale belt against a suitable replacement opponent, but it has been revealed that the 28-year-old will have Fernando Castaneda –– who is, ironically, a former Buglioni foe –– in the opposite corner.

The pair will battle it out over 10 rounds.

Castaneda (24-10, 15 KOs) has been stopped five times and was finished off inside five rounds by Buglioni when the pair met for a fringe WBA belt last July at Wembley Arena.

Since that defeat to the Enfield-based puncher, the 27-year-old, whose nickname is ‘El Huracán’, has had one fight in which he knocked out Luis Ignacio Castro in the second of six scheduled rounds in Mexico last month.
