Marcus Morrison will fight for his first professional title this weekend.

The Manchester man, 10-0 (7 KOs), will look to advance his record further when he returns to the ring, live on Sky Sports.

Morrison, 23, will be looking to add to his perfect record to date as a professional when he faces Brazilian opposition at the Manchester Arena.

He will come up against Jefferson Luiz De Souza (16-1-2, 10 KOs) –– who has yet to box outside of his homeland –– in a clash for the vacant WBC International Silver middleweight title on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s Anthony Crolla’s WBA lightweight world title defence against dynamite-punching Venezuelan mandatory challenger Ismael Barroso.

The show, which is billed ‘Danger Zone’ and will be screened exclusively live on Sky Sports, boasts names such as Martin Murray (32-3-1, 15 KOs) –– who faces George Groves at the O2 Arena on June 25 –– and Tommy Coyle (21-3, 10 KOs) in fights over eight and six rounds respectively.

And Morrison, who had previously campaigned a division south at super welterweight and has had two victories already this calendar year –– in Manchester on the Carl Frampton-Scott Quigg undercard in February and last month in Liverpool –– is excited about the opportunity ahead of him.

He said: “I am delighted to be fighting for my first title in Manchester.

“I was a big super welterweight so I have no doubt that my power will still be too much for my opponents at 160lbs.

"I was happy with both of my performances so far this year. They were both early nights and I think now it is time I got some rounds in and moved up.

"There is no reason why I can't be in the mix at English level and I think in the next 12 to 18 months there is no reason why I won't be in contention for the British titles as well.”

The aforementioned title showdowns featuring Crolla and Morrison are flanked by the chief support contest for the ‘Danger Zone’ card as Shayne Singleton squares off with Adil Anwar in a clash for the vacant WBC International Silver welterweight title.

Hosea Burton will do eight rounds before defending the British light heavyweight title against Tony Dodson at Goodison Park on May 29, while Paul Smith returns over eight rounds and Boston light heavyweight Callum Johnson will fight for the first time in 11 months.

Meanwhile, former Team GB star Warren Baister, Dublin’s Jono Carroll, Prestwich’s Sean Ben Mulligan and Sale’s Ben Sheedy are also set for ring action.
