Though a pair of articles last week suggested otherwise, Jermain Taylor’s comeback foe on Showtime on Dec. 30 is still Jessie Nicklow.

Nicklow was the opponent named from the moment Taylor’s fight was officially announced. Yet when two articles published on this website on Nov. 16 said that Ishe Smith and Carlos Quintana were looking to step in and face Taylor, the implication was that Nicklow was out.

Not true, says Kevin Rooney Jr., spokesman for DiBella Entertainment, which is promoting the card.

Not true, says Chris DeBlasio, spokesman for Showtime, which is broadcasting the card.

And not true, says Nicklow himself, who, well, is fighting on the card.

“The whole world’s going to be able to see what I can do,” Nicklow told BoxingScene.com on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

“Taylor vs. Nicklow is the fight,” DeBlasio told this scribe.

“It’s definitely Jessie,” Rooney said.
