The crowd in Brazil was raucous as their countrymen, Robson Conceicao defied the odds to bring home the country's first ever gold medal in boxing.

It was an incredible run through the tournament for Conceicao, who defeated Frenchman Sofiane Oumiha in the lightweight finals.

Conceicao has announced he's likely to turn pro in the coming months, and will certainly be a hot commodity amongst prospective promoters.

Great Britain's Joshua Buatsi had his impressive run through the Olympics ended by Kazak veteran Adilbek Niyzymbetov. Buatsi, who also is expected to turn pro, has the raw tools to do damage with more experience.

"I could've come out here and just won on points," Buatsi told NBC Sports' Chris Mannix. "God came through and saw my punching power. I just came up short tonight."

With Niyzymbetov's victory, he has set up a light heavyweight gold medal fight with Cuba's Julio Cesar La Cruz in what should be an intriguing matchup.
