Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez will oppose Pedro Guevara in the main event of what’s expected to be HBO’s last boxing broadcast for the foreseeable future.

ESPN.com reported a deal is in place for the Gonzalez-Guevara fight December 8 at StubHub Center in Carson, California. The card will be announced at a press conference Wednesday in Los Angeles.

HBO also will air a bout featuring undisputed women’s welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus that night. Braekhus’ opponent wasn’t solidified as of Tuesday.

Nicaragua’s Gonzalez (47-2, 39 KOs) spectacularly ended a one-year layoff in his last fight. The former four-division champion emphatically knocked out Mexico’s Moises Flores (25-6-1, 14 KOs) in the fifth round of their September 15 fight on the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin undercard at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Before defeating Flores, Gonzalez, 31, hadn’t boxed in the year since Thailand’s Sor Rungvisai knocked him out in the fourth round of their immediate rematch for the WBC 115-pound championship at StubHub Center. He was supposed to square off against Guevara on the Golovkin-Vanes Martirosyan undercard May 5 at StubHub Center, but Gonzalez’s visa issue prevented that fight from happening.

The 29-year-old Guevara (32-3-1, 19 KOs) is a former WBC world light flyweight champion. He has lost only two split decisions and a majority decision during his 10-year pro career.

Norway’s Braekhus (34-0, 9 KOs) made her HBO debut on the Golovkin-Martirosyan undercard. The native Colombian’s 10-round, unanimous-decision victory over Kali Reis (15-7-1, 5 KOs) that night marked the first time HBO aired a women’s bout since the premium cable network began broadcasting boxing in 1973.

HBO announced late in September that the network will move away from broadcasting boxing in 2019. It has two telecasts remaining on its 2018 schedule, starting with a card headlined by WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (14-0, 11 KOs) and ex-champion Jean Pascal (33-5-1, 20 KOs, 1 NC) on November 24 from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
