Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is very close to an agreement to face WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin on a date in July. Although July 12th has been mentioned as the working date for the Forum in Inglewood, the Mexican star reveals that he needs an additional week. He doesn't expect any problems with having the date pushed back by seven days, to July 19th. Chavez is still dealing with a hand and foot injury, both of which were suffered a few weeks ago when he decisioned Bryan Vera.

"What I can say is that my manager Billy Keane is [dealing with the fight negotiations]. I would be ready by July 19. I have not been training due to a small fracture in my right hand, plus I have an injury to my right foot but I will be ready [by that date]. I do not think there is any problem in fighting on July 19 against Golovkin," said Chavez Jr.
