Cedric Agnew (27-1, 14KOs) came back from his seventh-round KO loss to Sergei Kovalev with a first round TKO victory over Shannon Miller (25-52-8, 18 KOs) at the Houston Athletic Fencing Center. Curiously enough, Agnew, a southpaw, ended the bout with a mirror punch that felled him for the full count against Kovalev.

In the final seconds of the opening round, Agnew, 31, exploded with a bone-crushing right hook to the ribcage that dropped Miller in agony. Miller beat the count but failed to come off his stool for the second round.

"I just heard the instructions from my coach (Bobby Benton) to go to the body," Agnew said. "As soon as I started going to the body I saw him flinch so I went to the body viciously."

The fight was staged by Savarese Boxing Promotions.

Junior welterweight southpaw Regis Prograis (10-0, 8 KOs) dropped Marteze Logan (26-56-2, 6 KOs) with a missile of a straight left en route to stopping him in the second round.

Lightweight Ivan Otero (13-2, 4 KOs) hurt David Green (2-20-1, 1 KO) with a left uppercut in the second round before stopping him with a series of unanswered blows in the third.

Southpaw Jesus "Speedy" Gonzalez (3-0, 2 KOs) dropped Guadalupe Perez (2-17) twice for a second-round TKO in a lightweight bout.

Welterweight Alberto Robles (2-0, 1 KO) outpointed Andrew Sosa (0-2) over four rounds in a wild and messy slugfest.

Junior welterweight southpaw Jose Garcia made a successful debut by  dropping Willie Miller (0-8) in the first round en route to a four-round decision victory.

And lightweight Luis Garcia debuted with a second round stoppage over Theodore Williams (0-6).
