Robinson Castellanos, the World Boxing Council's silver champion at 126-pounds, is heading to Las Vegas to watch full champion Daniel Ponce De Leon defend the title against Abner Mares on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He will be accompanied by his promoter Dr. Fausto Daniel Garcia of Boxeo de Gala.

Castellanos recently traveled to Panama and won a final eliminator against Celestino Caballero, who handed Ponce De Leon his first career loss.

The record of Castellanos, 18-9 with 11KOs, is very deceiving. He is much better than his record suggests and the last time he was clearly beaten was a fifth round TKO at the hands of an 11-0 Mikey Garcia in 2008. Since that defeat, Castellanos has gone 14-2 and those two defeats were controversial split decisions.

The World Boxing Counil promised him a shot at the winner of Ponce De Leon-Mares and he recently signed a co-promotional agreement with Golden Boy Promotions. He may have to wait in line, since Jhonny Gonzalez has a rematch clause with Ponce De Leon which stems from a clause in last September's fight contract.
