Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada - In a battle of up and coming heavyweight contenders, Carlos Takam (29-1-1, 23KOs) and Mike Perez (20-0-1, 12KOs) fought to a ten round majority draw. The scores were 96-94 (Michael Buffer never said who won that card), with the other two cards reading a 95-95 draw.

The fight started at a very slow pace, with both heavyweights boxing and not brawling. Perez suffered a bad cut above his right eye, from a clash of heads, in the third round. Perez had the edge in the fourth and fifth, but Takam really busted up Perez with an inside war in the sixth. Perez seemed to continue fading in the late rounds of the fight, as Takam continued to press forward with hard punches from both hands to the head and body. Perez was wobbling in a few rounds but continued to fight back until the end.
