Home Depot Center, Carson, California - In a junior middleweight clash, Carlos Molina (19-4-2, 6 KOs) dominated former champion Kermit Cintron (32-4-1, 28 KOs), who returned after a 14 month layoff. Molina worked his way to an easy ten round unanimous decision. Cintron was unable to match the high workrate of Molina. The scores were indentical, 98-92, 98-92 and 98-92.

The fight started as a battle of jabs. They started trading good punches in the second round. Cintron was landing the harder blow, but Molina was giving as good as he got. cintron went back to his jab in the third, with Molina being very active. In the fourth, Molina started targeting Cintron's body and was going upstairs with hooks to the head. Cintron was allowing himself to be outworked.

Molina continued his high activity level in the fifth. Cintron started to get more active but he was still being outworked. At one point Molina shook Cintron and started working him over against the ropes with uppercuts. Molina was landing sharp punches in the sixth. Blood started flowing from the mouth of Cintron and Molina once again worked him over on the ropes. The seventh round showed no change in the pace. Molina was outworking and outlanding Cintron.

Cintron started throwing with urgency in the eight, but Molina came back in the final minute with a big flurry of punches to close strong. Molina was outworking Cintron for the entire ninth round and was landing hard shots to the heads. Molina stood strong in the tenth and final round, holding on to his big lead with solid punches to the head and body of Cintron.
