Bantamweight contender Carlos Carlson will face Alex Rangel on Friday night, Thompson Boxing Promotions matchmaker Alex Campnovo confirmed to BoxingScene.com.

The 10 round bout will take place at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif. The NABF title will be in play. Carlson weighed in at 117.4 lbs., while Rangel checked in at 117.3 lbs. 

Carlson (20-1, 11 KOs) is unbeaten since losing his pro debut in March of 2011. In his last bout on April 22, Carlson won a six round unanimous decision over veteran Giovanni Caro.

The Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico resident is ranked number 11 by the WBC.

Rangel (17-5-3, 11 KOs), who resides in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, stopped Joan Flores in the fourth round of his last bout on June 11. He has lost once in his last four bouts after losing three bouts in a row.

In the co-feature, unbeaten Giovani Santillan will take on Fernando Garcia in an eight round welterweight bout.

Santillan (19-0, 10 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over Jose De Jesus Macias in his last bout on April 22. The southpaw Santillan resides in the San Diego area.

In his last bout on March 19, Garcia (30-8-2, 18 KOs) was stopped in the ninth round by Juan Diaz. Prior to that bout, Garcia was stopped by Sharif Bogere.

Also fighting on the Thompson Boxing card will be amateur standout and featherweight prospect Ruben Villa. He will face jose Mora (0-0, 1 NC) in a four round bout.

Villa, who resides in Salinas, Calif., is co-promoted by Thompson Boxing and Banner Promotions.
