Belfast's Carl Frampton has revealed that his next opponent will be Mexico's Hugo Fidel Cazares, the fight was announced at a press conference earlier today.

The two will meet in a WBC Super bantamweight title eliminator at Belfast's Odyssey Arena on April 4th, airing live on Boxnation in the U.K.

Frampton is rated at #1 and Cazares is the #2 contender, the winner will earn a crack at the WBC titlist Leo Santa Cruz later this year.

Frampton, 17-0 (12), will enjoy home advantage, but Cazares, 40-7-2 (27), has more experience and the 35-year-old former light-flyweight title-holder will be driven by his desire to earn a world title shot at the higher weight.

Frampton gave up his EBU and Commonwealth titles to pursue world honours, and his gamble has been rewarded.  The 26-year-old had been chasing a bout with IBF holder Kiko Martinez, who he defeated by ninth-round TKO last February, but his efforts came to naught and he is opting for the WBC route instead as he bids to join domestic rival and WBA holder Scott Quigg at the world title table.
