WBC/WBA super welterweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) paid a recent visit to BoxingScene Radio to talk about his big victory over the previously undefeated Austin Trout (26-1, 14KOs). Alvarez says that he expects the critics to always be there but feels that this victory went along way in proving that he is a real champion.

"I think I proved I'm a champion but the criticism will always be there you know. Some people are always negative though but I hope they will also have something to say because you can learn from it and take it as constructive," Alvarez stated.

The 22-year-old fighter surprised a lot of people including Trout with the way he fought. He came out using a lot a head movement and his defense was top notch. Alvarez said that you have to approach each fight differently and that he will do whatever it takes to win.

"I think that ever fight is different and you have to fight the fights differently. I needed to fight this way in order to win this fight. In other fights I didn't need to this strategy," Alvarez said while explaining why he didn't fight as aggressively as he has in previous fights.

Canelo said that he came into the fight fully expecting to outbox his American opponent. Some fans may have been surprised by Alvarez's pure boxing ability but the Mexican expected nothing less and was happy to prove it this past Saturday.

"I wasn't surprised that I was able to outbox a boxer. I know how to fight that way. I was able to beat Austin at his own game and I knew I could do it," Alvarez told BoxingScene Radio.

Trout came on towards the end of the fight and made the fight close in many people's eyes despite one of the scorecards being extremely wide in Alvarez's favor. Canelo feels that his victory was decisive and that their isn't any need for another 12 rounds between the two.

"I don't think rematch is needed. I felt I won the fight clearly so we don't need a rematch right now," Canelo concluded.
