WBA world featherweight champion Jonathan Victor Barros made some recent comments that caught the attention of his upcoming opponent, Celestino "Pelenchin" Caballero. The rematch is likely going to take place on October 14 in Argentina, after a controversial meeting in July that saw Barros win a twelve round split decision. In a recent interview, Barros claimed that Caballero bashed WBA President Gilberto Mendoza, and that he took shots at the people of Aregentina.

"I was surprised at every single word that came from Barros in those statements, because when I was in Argentina for the first match he stated repeatedly that I was a gentleman and also stated that it was an honor to face me. I will continue to have a good opinion of him despite these unfortunate statements," Caballero said.

"It is very important to clarify that I have never spoke out against the Mendoza or Argentines in general. However, I've had the opportunity to be in Argentina on several occasions and I have a high opinion of the Argentine people. Moreover, I want to take the time to send my thanks to all those Argentine fans who were outraged at the result of my first fight with Barros and for all of their tokens of appreciation and sympathy."

"For this fight I'll be more aggressive and throw more punches. The aim is to try to win this fight before the distance."
