BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Bryant Jennings had just about as good a ringside seat as the three judges Saturday.

From right near the ring apron, seated beside promoter Kathy Duva, Jennings saw something completely different than two of them. Jennings left Sands Casino Resort’s Events Center confused as to how fellow Philadelphia heavyweight Steve Cunningham (25-5, 12 KOs) didn’t receive credit for out-boxing Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KOs) in their nationally televised rematch.

Philadelphia’s Cunningham seemingly out-boxed Adamek, of Kearny, N.J., in their 12-round fight, but judges Debra Barnes (115-113) and Dave Greer (116-112) scored the fight for Adamek (50-2, 29 KOs). A third judge, Tom Miller, scored Cunningham a 115-113 winner of a main event televised by NBC.

“I think Steve definitely won,” said Jennings (16-0, 8 KOs), who’ll return to the ring March 9 against an undetermined opponent. “Steve was using the jab the whole fight. Tomasz sometimes would start to pick it up the last couple seconds of the round. He just picked it up, but it wasn’t really effective to where you could give him that round. I think Steve was winning, hands down. I think it was a complete robbery.”

Like Cunningham, Jennings aspires to fight for a heavyweight title, so he felt for his friend following a difficult setback.

“I can’t even imagine how Steve’s feeling right now,” Jennings said. “Steve went in there and fought a good fight. And he won that fight. For them to take that fight away from him, when he won hands down, that was just completely ill. I can’t go for that.”
