Tonight's HBO headlining bout between Adrien Broner and Vicente Escobedo at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati is once again in jeopardy of being canceled. Broner once again missed weight, this time at Saturday morning's weigh-in, where the maximum allowed limit was 140 lb as per the terms of 11th hour negotiations to save the fight.

Broner (23-0, 19KO) came in at 143 lb, once again exceeded a contracted limit by at least three pounds. The unbeaten fighter was 133.5 lb at Friday's weigh-in for what was supposed to be a super featherweight title defense against Escobedo, who weighed in at the 130 lb. divisional limit.

If the fight is to proceed as planned, chances are Broner will once again be forced to dig into his pockets in order to perform in his hometown. The bout was to be his second homecoming appearance in the span of three fights, but was already marred by Friday's antics.

His failure to make weight resulted in his being stripped of the 130 lb. title and conceding 20% of his $300,000 - with the $60,000 split evenly between Escobedo and the Ohio Athletic Commission.

No official word has yet been given on how this affects the rest of the show. The co-feature is a 10-round bout between Keith Thurman and Orlando Lora, which many have argued as having no business being on HBO. It certainly doesn't qualify as a standalone headliner even in makeshift capacity.

More to come...
