Brondby, Denmark - WBA interim-super middleweight champion Brian Magee (36-4-1, 25KOs) retained his title with a fifth round knockout over Danish challenger Rudy Markussen (37-3, 24KOs). Magee took out his opponent with a southpaw left hook to the body. Markussen sank to his knees and was counted out in the act of rising.

The fight was even after four but Magee´s steady boxing was beginning to take over. The Dane threw some powerful punches, and landed in the first round with two solid right hands but then after being tagged himself in the second he became a lot more hesitant. Still, the end came out of the blue. It was scored 38-38 on all cards after four.

Danish middleweight Patrick Nielsen knocked out Hungarian trialhorse Joszef Matolsci in the first. Nielsen, a southpaw, hurt Matolsci with a right hook. Joszef staggered and Patrick fired a left hook and Matolsci went down on his back. He made it up to his feet but cornerman Giuseppe Lauri rushed into the ring and referee Jan Christensen waved it off. It was announced as a KO after 11 seconds into the very first round.

Norwegian featherweight Andreas "Kid Colombia" outscored Nicaraguan Julio Buitrago over ten. Evensen won every round. Buitrago spoiled his way through the fight and had points deducted in fourth and ninth. All three official cards read 100-88.  Andreas wanted to impress but was too eager and Buitrago used every trick in the book to survive and did so easily.

Swedish light heavyweight Erik Skoglund moved to 8-0 (4KOs) with a fourth round knockout over faded Spanish veteran Juan Nelongo. Skoglund had problems with Nelongo´s tricky style but connected with a right hand 36 seconds into the fourth and Nelongo went down and out. He was up before the count of ten but he was totally gone and it was stopped. It was an impressive ending by Skoglund but Nelongo´s best days are far behind him. It was set for six.

Cruiserweight Micki Nielsen had it all too easy in stopping Hungarian Attila Szatmari, who was floored twice for a stoppage at 1.30. It was scheduled for four. Nielsen is now 3-0.

Junior middleweight prospect Torben Keller opened Sauerland´s show at the Brondbyhall with a solid, one-sided win over Dzianis Makar from Belorus. After four it was scored 40-31 on all three official cards for Keller. Makar, game but outclassed, was down once in the second, twice in the third and twice in the fourth.
