Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - The weights are in for Saturday night's HBO pay-per-view. In a battle for the vacant WBA lightweight championship, interim beltholder Richard Abril (17-2-1, 8KOs) came in at 135-pounds. Former champion Brandon Rios (29-0-1, 22KOs) weighed in at 137, two-pounds over the lightweight limit. Rios struggled to make weight for his last fight in December against John Murray and initially planned to move up to 140 before agreeing to this fight.

No official decision, at least not yet, on whether Rios is going to sweat off the weight to make 135, or if a deal will be reached with Abril to move forward with Rios at 137.

Rios came back an hour later and weighed in at 139, which appears to be his final weigh-in attempt.

In a junior welterweight bout, Mike Alvarado (32-0, 23KOs) and Mauricio Herrera (18-1, 7KOs) both came in at 140-pounds.

Undefeated lightweight contender Mercito Gesta (24-0-1, 12KOs) weighed 137-pounds, while Oscer Cuero (15-7, 12KOs) came in at 138-pounds.
