Miguel Berchelt (36-1) will attempt to defend his WBC super featherweight title for the 6th time on November 2nd when he takes on former champion Jason Sosa (23-3-4) at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The fight will headline an ESPN telecast.

He was in Las Vegas earlier this month for the Tyson Fury-Otto Wallin heavyweight clash that took place at the T-Mobile Arena.  His fight against Sosa was also formally announced along with the rest of the Top Rank fall schedule.

The 27-year-old Mexican has repeatedly told BoxingScene.com that he is very interested in unification fights and wants to test his skills against the biggest names around his weight class.

WBO super featherweight champion Jamel Herring has made it very clear that he would like a unification bout against Berchelt who said that he has no problems with the unification fight but prefers even bigger fights.

“I want to face the best fighters out there. I want the biggest fights possible. That is what interests me. Fights against Vasiliy Lomachenko and Oscar Valdez are what interest me but if the fans want me to unify against one of the other champions and they make us a good offer without a doubt we will take that fight,” explained Berchelt.

As for any plans of moving up to lightweight, Berchelt said that he is willing and able to make the move for the biggest names in the division.

“For sure. It wouldn’t be a problem. If I can get Gervonta Davis or Vasiliy Lomachenko I will go up to 135 pounds,” Berchelt told BoxingScene.com.
