A major fight is waiting for Benoit Gaudet. Reportedly, his fight with the young sensation of Logan McGuinness, is coming together. BoxingScene.com has learned that the official announcement should ultimately be made as early as next week by promotional firms InterBox and Hennessy Canada.

In fact, on October 22 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, should the date and venue for the showdown between Gaudet (24-2-0) and McGuinness (15-0-1). The NABA lightweight title held by McGuinness will not be at stake, because the fight will take place in the super featherweight division.

Gaudet, 31, who participated in the Athens Olympics in 2004, was defeated when he challenged for the WBC world championship on May 2, 2009 in Las Vegas against Humberto Soto. The next duel is probably his last chance to make something of himself on the world stage.

At 24 years old, McGuinness, is the main attraction of the firm based in Ontario, which is the antenna of the powerful British promoter Hennessy Sports.

BoxingScene.com has also learned that the main co-feature will probably focus on a confrontation of pugilists from Quebec and Ontario. Montrealer Ahmed Cheikho (6-3-2), known for its striking power, should in all likelihood be opposed against local prospect Samuel Vargas. Featherweight Tyler Asselstine (6-0-0) of Ottawa, who has boxed regularly on cards presented by GYM, will likely appear. Light heavyweight Lionell Thompson of Buffalo (8-0-0) will see action. Thompson appeared in action on Friday, and knocked out David Whittom in the fourth round of a card staged by GYM at the Marquee Club Maisonneuve.

It also seems InterBox will have the opportunity to include another boxer from their stable on the show.
