According to promoter Fernando Beltran, WBO interim-junior welterweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez has fully ruled out the possibility of facing former lightweight champion Brandon Rios on July 14th at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.

As BoxingScene.com previously reported in an earlier story, Marquez has two names at the top of his list, former four division world champion Erik Morales and undefeated Filipino Mercito Gesta. Marquez and Beltran are nervous about Rios' recent weight struggles. He failed to make weight for his last two outings, but those two encounters took place at 135-pounds.

"I spoke with Juan Manuel and Brandon Rios is completely ruled out because of his discipline in terms of weight issues. We are nervous about having to enter a strong training camp and then there will be a problem. And to tell you the truth, he has the least recognizable name among the proposals that we've received," Beltran said.

BoxingScene has confirmed that Erik Morales will indeed meet with Golden Boy Promotions at their Los Angeles office on Monday afternoon to discuss his options,  which includes a July bout with Marquez. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer advised BoxingScene that he's spoken with Top Rank President Todd DuBoef, who co-promotes Juan Manuel, about the Marquez-Morales encounter.
