The World Championships Committee of the World Boxing Association (WBA) held a purse bid on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at its headquarters in Panama City, Panama for the rematch between WBA featherweight king Jonathan Barros of Argentina and the former champion Celestino Caballero of Panama.

OR Promotions, represented by promoter Osvaldo Rivero, won the right to stage the fight with a winning bid of $401,666.00. The other bid, placed in by promoter Rogelio Espino, was $305,000.00.

The purse bid was led by the Executive Vice President of WBA, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, who was accompanied by Jose Oliver Gomez, President of the WBA Ratings Committee, and WBA Directors Manuel Landeros and Miguel Prado.

According to Rivero, the fight will take place in Mendoza, Argentina, Buenos Aires, Argentina or Panama City, Panama. The fight should be held in 45 to 90 days from now. Rivero will announce the official date very soon.
