Marco Antonio Rubio (54-6-1, 47KOs) could be in for a fight. 41-year-old former champion Carlos Baldomir (49-14-6, 15KOs) feel disprespected by some of Rubio's comments and promises to punish the Mexican middleweight on September 8th at Estadio Miguel Celaya in Guanajuato, Mexico. Televisa Deportes will broadcast the fight. They are fighting for an IBF regional title at middleweight.

Baldomir says his career is closing to an end, but he feels that he has enough left in the tank to defeat Rubio. He also said Rubion is the kind of boxer who crumbles when stacked against good competition.

"Rubio can not deal with quality fighters. In Mexico, he's a monster against bad fighters, but he always crumbles when he faces a fairly good fighter. Pavlik and Chavez Jr. are good examples. I have no fear of facing him at his weight. I know that even at 41-years-old and with the little [time] I have left boxing, I still have enough of an opportunity to beat him," said Baldomir.

"A Mexican was the last [boxer] to beat me, but he was lucky. Rubio, I want to see him do the same. He says he's going to knock me out before the eighth but I will not allow him to even reach the second. I'm the better fighter and I'm going to take this belt to Argentina."
