Former welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir (49-16-6, 15KOs), 42-years-old, has decided to call it a day and says he will never fight again after losing to middleweight prospect Andrey Meryasev (16-0, 11KOs) over ten rounds in Yucatan, Mexico. It was Baldomir's first fight since getting stopped in four rounds by Marco Antonio Rubio in September 2012, which also took place in Mexico.

"I had a decent fight against an undefeated opponent, 26 years old. This was my last fight, really. I retired in front of the people, it is really my last fight. I'm happy, but I realize that my time has passed and now the time must go to others. I'm a big boy, I did a lot in this sport and I'll continue as a coach, manager, promoter........this will be my future. I'll always be in boxing," Baldomir said.
