On July 19th, super middleweight contender Badou Jack (15-0) picked up the biggest win of his career when he won a one-sided unanimous decision over Farrah Ennis who was very hesitant to engage and spent most of the fight in safety first mode. Jack admitted that he wanted a knockout but said that Ennis' reluctance to exchange made it an almost impossible proposition.

"It was an okay performance.  I wanted a knockout but I didn't get it because that guy didn't want to fight.  It was hard to stop him the way he fought.  Next time we will try to get it," Jack stated.

Next up for Jack is Marco Antonio Periban (20-1) who suffered his first career defeat in June when he lost a majority decision to Sakio Bika. The fight will be televised on Fox Sports2.  Periban is a very aggressive fighter so Jack won't have to chase his opponent down this time around.

"That was a good fight and he is a good fighter so it should be better for me.  I think he will bring out the best in me,"said Jack.

The fight takes place on September 12th, two days before Floyd Mayweather faces Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on Showtime pay-per-view in what will be the biggest fight of the year. Jack has previously appeared on Mayweather undercards and said that he likes the extra attention that his fights have received.

"It is a lot of excitement (fighting close to Mayweather's fight).  There will be a lot of fans in town and I can't wait for the fight," Jack told BoxingScene.com.

Jack finished our conversation by saying that Mayweather has been extremely sharp in the gym. He went as far as to say that the pound for pound king looked better in the first day of this camp than at any point in his camp for the Guerrero fight.

"Floyd took two months off and then came to the gym.  The first day he came back to the gym and he looked better than he did in the fight versus Guerrero,"Jack revealed.
