When the welterweight unification bout between IBF champion Kell Brook and WBO champion Jessie Vargas was agreed to by their respective promoters Matchroom and Top Rank, the dates of August 27th and September 3rd were listed as the possible dates for the fight that will take place in Brook's hometown in the UK.

Top Rank and Vargas have reached a financial agreement on their end but recent reports suggest that Matchroom and Brook are still at odds over his compensation for the fight.

Now it turns out the fight may be pushed back a few weeks later. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum revealed that if middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. (22-1) takes care of business on Saturday against Tom Doran (17-0), one of those dates will likely be used for a fight between Eubank and WBA/WBC/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

Triple G's promoter recently told BoxingScene.com's Steve Kim that a potential fight against Canelo Alvarez will have to wait until the second half of 2017 which leaves the hard hitting Kazakhstan native without a dance partner for his fall return.

"Eddie may be moving the date of that fight to the 24th of September because September 3rd or August 27th, he is looking to do Eubank - if Eubank wins his fight Saturday - he will fight Golovkin (on one of those dates)," Arum told BoxingScene.com before adding with a smile, "I am giving you scoops."

As for the change in date, Arum said he doesn't have a problem with it, stating, "That is fine. Obviously you cooperate with another promoter."
