Rising Polish heavyweight prospect Artur Szpilka (12-0, 9 KOs) refused to back the victory of his countryman Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KOs), who won a controversial twelve round split decision over Steve Cunningham (25-5, 12 KOs). The scores were 115-113 and 116-112 for Adamek, and 116-112 for Cunningham.

"I do not know about you, but for me, Adamek lost," Szpilka said.

Adamek beat Cunningham four years ago, also by split decision, in a fight where he put Cunningham down three times. In the rematch, now at heavyweight, Adamek was the bigger man but he was never able to seriously hurt Cunningham or put him down.
